David Borchart is a cartoonist and illustrator living in New York City. In 2002 he received a New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) fellowship in the category of fiction for the graphic novel A Prisoner of Ghoul Island. He is also a fellow of the MacDowell Colony, where much of A Prisoner of Ghoul Island was written. His cartoons have appeared in the Seattle Stranger, American Book Jam (Tokyo), and the Brooklyn Free Press. "I was a cartoonist. Not the kind
